Honoring a Markle native

Joel Davis, a Markle native, is in the spotlight this week for Greenbear Digital Media’s “Military Monday” which is our way of expressing gratitude for the brave men and women who have served our country through the military. Joel currently resides in Macon, GA, with his girlfriend Catherine Jackson.
Joel is the son of Mark and Michelle Davis. He has two siblings, Danielle Bennett and Luke Davis. Luke also serves in the U.S. Military. Joel graduated from Norwell High School in 2012, playing golf for the school.
He also shared that he enjoyed disc golf and playing ultimate frisbee with his church youth group, saying it was “always a blast.”
“We’d gather on the field, full of energy and laughter, ready for some friendly competition,” Joel said. “The game was a mix of impressive dives, hilarious misthrows and cheers when someone made a great play.”
Most importantly, though, Joel said it wasn’t just the game that made things fun, but the friendships forged.

“The feeling of being a part of something special,” Joel said. “Those days were simple, but unforgettable.”
Other simple but unforgettable memories for Joel revolve around his family spending time together at their grandparents’ pond.
“We’d laugh, race to the raft, and float under the sky, surrounded by nature’s quiet beauty.”
He said that even simple moments like that - seeing his grandparents watch him and his siblings from the shore with smiles full of love - felt magical. “Pure joy and togetherness.”

Joel enlisted in the United States Air Force in January of 2015. He finished basic training at Lachland Air Force Base and enlisted to jump-start his career in Aviation. He has been stationed at Ramstein Air Force Base, Al Udeid Air Base, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and Dobbins Air Force Base.
A special memory Joel shared was when he was named United States Armed Forces in Europe (USAFE) Airman of the Year.
“The journey there wasn’t easy,” Joel said. “Countless hours of hard work, leading missions, mentoring others and pushing beyond limits shaped me into who I am. When my name was called, pride and disbelief hit me all at once. Standing on that stage wasn’t just about me - it was about the team, mentors and family who supported me along the way. Winning wasn’t just an honor; it was a reminder of why I serve and the power of striving for excellence every day.”
Currently, Joel is a Product Management Specialist with Dowty Propellers, a GE Aerospace Company. When asked about his future plans, Joel simply said, “marry a beautiful woman named Catherine Marimina Jackson.”
