The Bluffton girls and boys’ swim teams, also known as the Bluffton Tiger Sharks, traveled to Norwell High School for a swim and dive meet on Saturday morning, December 20th. Fans filled the stands as swimmers and divers took to the pool to show off their skills.

The Norwell girls were able to pull off an impressive 129-50 win over the Bluffton girls. While the scoring was much closer for the boys, Bluffton won out over their hosts 74-112 to continue their undefeated season.

Ben Peterson, a member of the Norwell boys team, stated that the team did “better than they thought” and that his goal for the rest of the season is to “get dives down” and lower his time in his events. Peterson participates in diving and the Freestyle and was named an event winner in diving for this meet. Other event winners for the Norwell boys included Rylan Heyerly with wins in the 50 Free and 100 Free, and Kale Meredith in the 100 Breastsroke.

Event winners for the Bluffton boys included:

Tim Melcher, father to senior swim member Karrigan Melcher, said that this season was “bittersweet” since it’s the last time one of his children will be on the team.

“I think it’s been really neat to watch all of these girls come up from when they were little,” Tim said. “To see how they’ve progressed and matured, I’m excited for the end of the season and to maybe get a conference win.”
