Richardson relives history in Europe tour

Randall "Randy" Richardson, son of the late Melvin and Linda Richardson and 1976 graduate of Northfield High School where he excelled as an athlete as well as in Spanish and Art found himself needing work in 1982 so he enlisted on March 11th in the United States Army. After Basic Training at Fort Benning Georgia for the Infantry, he progressed to 11H Anti-Tank Weapon Gunner.
His Army career took him to Fort Polk LA and to Mainz Kazern, Germany before he returned to the United States to serve at the Indiana Army National Guard
in Huntington Indiana
Although he did not see combat, he was fully trained and prepared as a Tow Weapon Gunner APC Operator of the M901 Tow Weapon System Armored Carrier and also attended three levels of NCO Leadership Training.
Highlights of his European tour include experiencing the history of the countries where he toured and historical sites of same. He loved snow skiing in the Alps.
Another fond memory during Randy's service was when serving back in Huntington he was assigned Special Detail during the Dan Quayle Vice Presidential Announcement.
Now retired, Randy lives in Huntington Indiana. Looking back , he states he would have enlisted directly out of high school.
