On Saturday, December 15, 2018, NMS National Junior Honor Society will be placing wreaths to honor and remember U.S. Military Veterans at three locations in Wells County. Please note date, location and time. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
On National Wreaths Across America Day, wreaths are laid at Arlington National Cemetery, and at more than 1400 additional locations in all 50 US states, at sea and abroad. Each year, a volunteer says the name of the deceased veteran as he or she places a wreath on the grave. They say that you die twice – once when you leave this physical body, and sometime in the future, when your name is spoken for the last time. Please help keep the memories of our local veterans alive in this ceremonial wreath placement to honor all veterans.
In this ceremonial presentation, NJHS members will place seven wreaths at each location (Army, Marine, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marine and POW*MIA), and we will follow a script as we are placing the wreaths. Each ceremony takes approximately 30-45 minutes (depending on crowd size). The American Legion Color Guard will be present at each location as available.
NJHS Locations are:
Bluffton Veterans Park @ 11am
Markle Veterans Park @ 12:45pm
Ossian Oak Lawn Cemetery @ 2pm
